Dan Doidge Oshawa, Ontario Rail Edit

This was originally posted on your Spotlight page.

Dan Doidge recently sent me an E-mail with an edit he made that showcases him skating some rails near his house in Oshawa, Ontario. I really liked how the edit came out, and that is supporting CanadianRoll. Dan has always been supporting us, so on a personal note I want to thank him and all he has done for the website.

Hamilton Skate Weekend Flyer and Information

The second annual Hamilton Skate Weekend (H.S.W) has been in the planning stages for quite sometime, and I am happy to announce that most of the loose ends have been tied up. We chose the second weekend of June to hold the event, as we feel that there is a greater opportunity for the largest possible turn out.

For those who do not know what the H.S.W is, the best way to explain the event is an anti-competition that is held in Hamilton, Ontario. At competitions people are judged against one another, which can create pressure. We here at CanadianRoll feel that this format, although useful, can be intimidating. The H.S.W is like a weekend long session where people are judged against their own abilities, if the judges feel you have stepped up your game in anyway then your name gets a check mark beside it. The more check marks you get the more chances you have to walk away with one of our numerous prizes (and this year we do mean numerous). Keep your eyes posted on CanadianRoll because some of the prizes will be shown in the upcoming days, with a few surprises thrown in. Like last years event people are allowed to sleep here in Hamilton (in fact it is pretty much expected), however you need to contact either me (Nick D’Amico: canadianroll@hotmail.com or canadianroll@gmail.com) Roger Wilkinson (st_80_roger@hotmail.com) or Brian Lofgren (waxup_allstar@hotmail.com) In order to reserve a spot before the event.

Unlike last years event, the prizes will be thrown out on the Saturday night (instead of the Sunday), which gives us the Sunday to have a relaxed session. What that means is if you want to grab some prizes you need to show up for the Friday and Saturday sessions.

That is all the updates for now, but be sure to keep checking in for more updates on the event.

Lastly, be sure to check back at the “Hamilton Skate Weekend” category that is at the top of the website (you can see it in the banner at the end of “blog” and “About Canadian Roll”) This Category will have ALL the information you need about the event.

Canadian Roll made it out for the opening of the new skatepark that was opened in Brampton, Ontario. I’M Back!

Well my exams are all over with, which means Canadian Roll will be up to its regular schedule of updating (almost everyday). I just want to say thank you for the people who have put up with the 2 months of slow updates, and all the people that have been looking at the website, it is really appreciated. Canadian Roll has some big things planned for the summer, so keep an eye on the website for news, events, and everything else that has to do with rolling!

C-Roll Reaches 100,000 Hits!

Canadian Roll just hit a new milestone, we have recently reached 100, 000 hits. To be quite honest, when I first started I did not think I would ever have this many people pay attention to the website. However, having said that, I am very grateful so many people enjoy reading Canadian Roll every day and I am glad with all the positive response the website has been getting as of late. Lastly, I want to say thank you to everyone who has ever come on the website, especially all the Canadian rollers who are keeping the life style alive and giving me something to write about.

Canadian Roll Working Hard

Spring sure is taking its time to get here. The guys over here at Canadian Roll are working hard trying to pass the time before we can get out and skate in the sun. Nick has been deep into the books with schooling. Roger has been trying to fit in any skating between work and crappy weather. Myself, I’m gaining weight, wondering when the nice weather will finally get here so I can burn off the winter pounds. I’m sure you fit into one of those categories and if you don’t I hope it’s because you are able to get out and skate.

My girlfriend had just looked over my shoulder and inquired into what I was doing. She made a comment along the lines of “what is there to update, no one has done anything lately?” Sure, we as skaters may not have done anything around here, but there has been alot going on in the industry such as the new Remz skate, the Aragon 2 dropping from Razors and the news about Richie Eisler’s first pro skate. It seems that this spring is not going to be a dissapointment. Also watch for information on the Second H.S.W. happening in June.

I can assure you that this season will be busy.

Lack Of Updates, Why?

I already put up one of these messages back in the beginning March but I decided to repost one. There is a reason why there has not been many updates recently and thats largely to do with the large amounts of school work I have. I pretty much have a major paper due every week. So I have been stressed for time. However, I will continue to updates as often as I can. Expect more updates in April because I only have 4 exams. Also, if you are checking out the website THANK YOU for doing so.

Canadian Roll’s Richie Eisler Interview

Richie Eisler has decided to do another interview with Canadian Roll and let everyone know what has been going on in his life. This interview is extremely comprehensive and covers aspects such as Richie’s new pro skate coming out from USD, his new pro frame, his new pro wheel, his injuries, what he has been doing now that he is out of school, the Eisler Q, Traveling, how he became the team manager of Undercover…plus much, much more. To see the full interview go TO OUR SPOTLIGHT PAGE HERE. And to create a little hype for the interview, here is some video of Richie doing a line at a park.
